Navel Chakra
The "Navel Chakra" is associated with the color of the yellow mandala and can be found between the navel and the bottom of the rib cage. The parts of the body affected are the navel, small intestine, pancreas, gall bladder, digestive system, kidney and the liver. This chakra is in charge of a person’s sense of self, where your self-esteem and willpower come from. It can also help a person learn to meditate and cleanse their spirit from negative thoughts that sometimes cause us to take actions that we later regret.
The navel chakra (or solar plexus chakra) is what gives us the grounded and secure feeling of "I am." When in balance, we are comfortable with our placement in the universe, and we will have a fulfilling and stable emotional life as the perception of emotions will not be blocked from flowing down from the heart chakra. Because this chakra is the "bridge" between the higher and lower energy elements, if blocked, it will prevent the emotions (from the heart chakra) from flowing into the sacral or root chakras, thus preventing the person from developing an emotional attachment to someone with whom they are sharing a physical union.
This chakra also has a significant impact on the development of our psychic abilities, as is related to the element of "sight." Building and opening this chakra will increase psychic perceptions, premonitions, and prophetic dreams.
Hand Position:
Put your hands before your upper abdomen, slightly below your sternum. Touching straight fingers at the tips all pointing away from you and crossing thumbs. Focus on the spine, a bit above the navel. Chant the sound "RAM".

Opening the Navel Chakra:
Use the Chakra Meditation that uses mudras (special hand positions) and sounds to open the chakras. To enhance the effect, the sounds are chanted to cause a resonation in your body that you can feel at the chakra area they are meant for. When the mind becomes really still, for example after a week of intensive meditation practice. We tend to open up to subtle sense impressions that normally would pass by unnoticed. One could say that intensive meditation increases awareness of mental energy.
Sit cross-legged and meditate for 15 to 30 minutes at a time, once or twice per day, while focusing on the slow clockwise movements of the corresponding color of the mandala. Envision the spinning vortex of energy at the location of the navel chakra. Take 7 to 10 deep breaths, breathing in through the nose and exhaling through the mouth, then chant the sounds for approx. three times and breath.
For pronunciation: "A" is pronounced "ah" and "M" is pronounced "mng".
