Spiritual Toolbox
In the paranormal field there are many tools which can be used on an investigation, however some of these tools can not be carried in an equipment bag. Here is a list of some of these spiritual tools:
6th Sense
The primary means of receiving data when communicating with entities, performing a healing, receiving premonitions, scanning or doing any other energy related activity. Like your muscles, if your 6th sense is out of shape from lack of use or lack of development, the amount and clarity of information you receive will be greatly lessened.
Assimilation
With assimilation you actually become the object or being you are trying to get information about. Scanning is a quick overview, assimilation is a more focused and concentrated application for a single object or being.
Channeling (mediumistic)
In the latter half of the 20th century, western mediumship developed in two different ways. One type involves psychics or sensitives who speak to spirits and then relay what they hear to their clients. The other incarnation of non-physical mediumship is a form of channeling in which the channeler goes into a trance, or "leaves their body". He or she becomes "possessed" by a specific spirit (spirit possession), who then talks through them. In the trance, the medium enters a cataleptic state marked by extreme rigidity. As the control spirit takes over, the medium's voice may change completely. The spirit answers the questions of those in its presence or giving spiritual knowledge.
Clairvoyance (seeing)
Where a person has the ability to gain information about an object, person, location or physical event through means other than the known human senses. A person said to have the ability of clairvoyance is referred to as a clairvoyant ("one who sees clearly"). Clairvoyance is used exclusively to refer to the transfer of information that is both contemporary to, and hidden from, the clairvoyant. It is very different from telepathy in that the information is said to be gained directly from an external physical source, rather than being transferred from the mind of one individual to another.
Clairsentience (feeling/touching)
Where a person acquires psychic knowledge primarily by feeling. It is an ability that can be obtained at an advanced meditation level. Generally the term refers to a person who can feel the vibration of other people. There are many different degrees of clairsentience ranging from the perception of diseases to the thoughts or emotions of other people. The ability differs from third eye whereas this kind of ability cannot have a vivid picture in the mind. Instead, a very vivid feeling can form. Psychometry is related to clairsentience.
Clairaudience (hearing/listening)
Where a person acquires information by paranormal auditory means. It is often considered to be a form of clairvoyance. Clairaudience is essentially the ability to hear in a paranormal manner, as opposed to paranormal seeing (clairvoyance) and feeling (clairsentience). Clairaudient people have psi-mediated hearing. Clairaudience may refer not to actual perception of sound, but may instead indicate impressions of the "inner mental ear" similar to the way many people think words without having auditory impressions. But it may also refer to actual perception of sounds such as voices, tones, or noises which are not apparent to other humans or to recording equipment. For instance, a clairaudient person might claim to hear the voices or thoughts of the spirits of persons who are deceased. Clairaudience may be positively distinguished from the voices heard by the mentally ill when it reveals information unavailable to the clairaudient person by normal means (including cold reading or other magic tricks), and thus may be termed "psychic" or paranormal.
Clairalience (smelling)
Also known as Clairescence. In the field of parapsychology, clairalience is a form of extra-sensory perception wherein a person accesses psychic knowledge through the physical sense of smell.
Claircognizance (knowing)
Where a person acquires psychic knowledge primarily by means of intrinsic knowledge. It is the ability to know something without a physical explanation why you know it, like the concept of mediums.
Clairgustance (tasting)
Clairgustance is defined as a form of extra-sensory perception that allegedly allows one to taste a substance without putting anything in one's mouth. It is claimed that those who possess this ability are able to perceive the essence of a substance from the spiritual or ethereal realms through taste.
Empathy
Empathy is the capacity to recognize and to some extent share feelings such as sadness or happiness that are being experienced by another sentient or semi-sentient being. Someone may need to have a certain amount of empathy before they are able to feel compassion. Empathy is the key cornerstone in genuine human relationships. Sociopaths do not experience empathy as those who do not fall under this category. Empathy is conscious. It means one with empathy feel compassion, while those without do not take into account other people's affect emotions. Psychopathology reveals that people with an absence of empathy can be defined as a sociopath or psychopath. A person who has empathy understands another.
Energy Movements
The more you are able to feel and work with your own energy, the more you will be able to feel other energy and work with it. Like your muscles, if your energy bodies are not exercised, they wither and deteriorate. "What you don't use, you lose."
High Guard
High Guard is the art of energy defense. Anyone participating in paranormal investigations should know that they can be attacked on an energy level by negative entities. Knowing how to defend yourself is the key to protection.
Precognition
Precognition, also called future sight, is a type of extrasensory perception that would involve the acquisition or effect of future information that cannot be deduced from presently available and normally acquired sense-based information or laws of physics and/or nature. A premonition and a presentiment are information about future events that is perceived as emotion.
Psychic Awareness
The more you can be aware of both your internal and external environment, the better your investigation will be. Know your psychic channels of communication. We naturally possess a primary channel of receiving psychic guidance, and one lesser or secondary channel of psychic communication. The truth is psychic abilities are a natural and normal human skill. Like any other skill, you can practice and learn ways to increase your enjoyment and use of your natural psychic abilities.
Photometry
Photometry is the ability to scan photographs and gather information psychically about the people in the photo.
Psychometry
Psychometry is similar to photometry except it is the ability to scan an object and gather information about the object's owner.
Scanning
Scanning is the ability to know things about people or your environment. Good scanning requires non thought and is a foundational 6th sense ability. Scanning is a requirement for anyone interested in ghost hunting.
Telepathy
The ability to communicate without words is a very handy skill not only in ghost hunting, but also when learning to communicate through energy. Energy beings do not have vocal chords to speak with so they use telepathy to communicate.
Third Eye
The third eye, also known as the inner eye, refers to the ajna (brow) chakra. It is the gate that leads within to inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness. The third eye is often associated with visions, clairvoyance which includes the ability to observe chakras and auras, precognition, and out-of-body experiences. People who have allegedly developed the capacity to utilize their third eyes are sometimes known as seers.
