Sacral Chakra
The "Sacral Chakra" is associated with the color of the orange mandala and can be found right below the belly button in the lower area of your stomach. This particular chakra is in charge of a person’s sexual organs, lower portion of the spine, large intestines and the bladder. It also affects how your emotions are working, how well you can use your brain for things like making decision, your skills, how well you control yourself, whether or not you get addicted to something, as well as your ability to handle sexual relationships and how creative you may be.
This chakra is related to gut feelings and torrid emotions relating to love, hate, and the elements of dedication. It can consume us if we let it get out of balance through obsessive-compulsive behavior.
The sacral chakra is linked with the base chakra. The sacral chakra has portals on both sides of the body, and the base chakra is shaped like a cone that meets the sacral chakra at the base of the spine where the front and back of the sacral chakra touch. When open and healthy, a person's sexual life force exists and seeks physical union. A blockage restricts the sexual life force for this area. Often, this life force is expelled through orgasm, but the energy version can also be channeled up to the higher chakras for other purposes and forms of outlet.
Hand Position:
Place hands in lap palms on top one another, left hand under. Palm touching back of fingers of right hand. Thumbs tips touching. Focus on the sacral bone in lower back. Chant the sound "VAM".

Opening the Sacral Chakra:
Use the Chakra Meditation that uses mudras (special hand positions) and sounds to open the chakras. To enhance the effect, the sounds are chanted to cause a resonation in your body that you can feel at the chakra area they are meant for. When the mind becomes really still, for example after a week of intensive meditation practice. We tend to open up to subtle sense impressions that normally would pass by unnoticed. One could say that intensive meditation increases awareness of mental energy.
Sit cross-legged and meditate for 15 to 30 minutes at a time, once or twice per day, while focusing on the slow clockwise movements of the corresponding color of the mandala. Envision the spinning vortex of energy at the location of the sacral chakra. Take 7 to 10 deep breaths, breathing in through the nose and exhaling through the mouth, then chant the sounds for approx. three times and breath.
For pronunciation: "A" is pronounced "ah" and "M" is pronounced "mng".
